Our Story
Compassionate Care at Home
For years, our team has had the privilege of serving the pets and families of Carteret County at Mitchell Village Animal Hospital. We believe that pets are cherished members of the family who deserve dignity and comfort throughout every stage of life.
As local veterinarians who grew up in this community, we have a strong desire to help support, grow and enrich life here. While we continue to provide comprehensive care at our hospital in Morehead City, we recognize a profound and growing need for a more personal, peaceful way to say goodbye.
The experiences we have had with families during this transition at home, inspired us to establish a dedicated service for in-home pet euthanasia in Carteret County and surrounding areas. We have found this to bring comfort and also closure are honored to offer this service to our area.
Meet the Doctors
Drs. Julianne Davis Payne and Marci S Godwin are the heart behind this mission. Having taken over ownership of Mitchell Village Animal Hospital in 2018, they have dedicated their careers to providing compassionate, practical veterinary medicine to their neighbors. They both see Rainbow Connection as a much needed service for Carteret County and are honored to give back to the community in which they grew up.
Dr. Julianne Davis Payne:
Through years of counseling families with end-of-life decisions for their pets, she believes that closure is one of the benefits afforded by home euthanasia. She is dedicated to assisting families with a peaceful transition for their pet and commemorating their pet's memory respectfully in the comfort of their own home.
Dr. Marci Godwin:
Known for her detailed explanations and kind approach, she is passionate about easing the stress for both pets and their owners during difficult transitions.
